We had an amazing time this year at Edmonton Christmas West School with the Grade 3 and Grade 5 classes celebrating International Chefs Day. This year we decided to make Healthy Fruit Pizzas and they were a total hit!
This year's International Chefs Day theme was "Growing Great Chefs". We split the classes into groups of 5 or 6 and assigned each child to bring a fruit. We supplied the pizza crusts, yogurt "pizza sauce" and toppings - hemp hearts, chia seeds, shredded coconut and sprinkles. Chef Jered shared the health benefits of each fruit ingredients as the kid's assembled their pizzas. Once the pizzas were assembled, we cut the pizzas and everyone enjoyed the "fruits" of their labors (see what I did there).
Each kid received a ICD gift bag that had a fruit word search, colouring page, treat and recipe cards for healthy snacks to make at home.
